Connect Meanwhile Time Tracking

Meanwhile Time Tracking connects to Claude, Claude Code, and ChatGPT through a remote MCP server. Add the endpoint below, sign in with your Meanwhile account, and approve access. Your agent can then log, edit, and submit only your own time.

Claude on the web

Add Meanwhile Time as a custom connector.

  1. Open Claude connectors.
  2. Add a custom connector named Meanwhile Time.
  3. Enter https://app.meanwhile.so/mcp/time as the remote MCP URL.
  4. Connect it, then finish sign-in with your Meanwhile account.
On a Team or Enterprise plan, only an Owner can add the connector. Each person can then connect it. To disconnect, remove Meanwhile Time from Connectors. Add it again to reconnect. See Claude's remote connector guide.

Claude Code

Add the remote server from your terminal.

  1. Run the command above in Claude Code.
  2. Enter /mcp and select meanwhile-time.
  3. Approve the connection. Your browser will open for Meanwhile sign-in.
  4. Return to Claude Code after the sign-in page says the connection is ready.
To disconnect, run claude mcp logout meanwhile-time. To reconnect, run claude mcp login meanwhile-time.

ChatGPT

Create a custom app in ChatGPT on the web.

  1. Go to Advanced settings. Turn on developer mode. A Business workspace admin or owner must do this. On Enterprise or Edu, an admin may pick people who can build apps.
  2. Open Workspace settings, then Apps, and choose Create.
  3. Name it Meanwhile Time, enter https://app.meanwhile.so/mcp/time, choose OAuth, and scan the tools.
  4. Finish Meanwhile sign-in, create the app, and add it to a new chat.
Logging and editing need ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, or Edu. ChatGPT Pro custom apps are read-only today. Agent mode does not use custom apps. To disconnect, remove or disable Meanwhile Time in workspace app controls. Create or enable it again to reconnect. See OpenAI's custom MCP guide.

What the connection can access

  • You sign in through Meanwhile OAuth. You do not paste an API key into the agent.
  • The server can read and change only your own time.
  • Meanwhile checks your rights before each tool runs.
  • You do not need a verified phone number or SMS consent to use MCP.
  • You can disconnect the app in your AI client and reconnect it later.

Time tracking questions

Can the agent see another worker's time?

No. Your sign-in grants access to only your own time.

Do text messages need to be active?

No. MCP and text messages are separate ways to log time. You can use MCP with no phone on file.

Can ChatGPT Pro log time?

Not today. ChatGPT Pro custom apps are read-only. Use Claude, Claude Code, or a ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, or Edu workspace to log or edit time.

What if sign-in expires?

Open the MCP or app settings in your AI client and reconnect Meanwhile Time. You will sign in with Meanwhile again.
